Vote No on Amendment 6! / Floridians' rights are under attack!

On this November's ballot, there is a proposed amendment that will ban smoking in all enclosed workspaces in Florida. This will include all restaurants and any connected bars. Smokers will no longer be allowed to smoke while dining or enjoying a cocktail.

I am a non-smoker. I think smoking is a dangerous habit. However, I find this assault on our freedom of choice even more dangerous.

Business owners have the right to decide how to cater to their customers. If they want to provide a smoke-free establishment, they are free to do so. If they want to cater to the smoking patron, again, they can do so.

How can you help?

Write letters to the editor of your hometown newspaper. Florida's Constitution should not be used as a vehicle for every special interest group with an ax to grind.

Click on Resources. Select the link that says State Senators or State Representatives. Find the person who represents your district and let them know how you feel about this proposed amendment.

Tell your friends and family about this proposed amendment. We need to get the word out about this attack on our liberties!

Together we can preserve our freedom of choice...Vote No on Amendment 6!

Click on "Extras" for a full text of the proposed amendment.

The Lifestyle Nazis strike in the Sunshine State. Send them a message and tell them to keep their busybody noses out of your personal affairs.

This is something I am seeing all across the US. It's not about second hand smoke. It's about a special interest "group" wanting control.

They sneak in, make it look like a good thing to the Lawmakers, and then they go for the kill.

Just recently they passed a similar law up north, I forget what state it was, I think it was Ohio & now it's Florida. It may be Florida now but soon it will be the whole USA, welcome to the NWO folks. Then after they accomplish that it will be fast food restaurants, afterall they're killing people with fat burgers. P.C. gone amok, god help us we're on decline & falling fast.

The worst bans are in California, Mass, New York, Maine.

Now, the anti's are starting in OK, Florida, Delaware and PA. It's a non-stop plaque we have brewing, and I don't like it one bit.

The anti-smokers say now they will have a place to eat and not breath our second hand smoke. But by doing this, they are trampling on the rights of every American that lives here.

The anti-smokers have plenty of places where they can go and not be around second hand smoke today. Leave the few remaining places that accomodate smokers alone!

This is an example of where a "law" is really not necessary at all. I have been to restaurants in FL where the owner already chose to have a "no-smoking" policy throughout. Other eating establishments prefer to set smokers outside, and non-smokers inside. I think the owner of the business should decide this one. Not some new "law."

Your right, summer.

The government should have no say in how a person runs his business. The smoker's respect if the business owner makes his business smoke free. The smokers can go somewhere else, and leave the non-smoking business to the non-smokers.

But when the government goes in and forces them to do as "the Board of Health" wants, it's wrong. And I think it's illegal AND immoral....
